Role: main translator. Currently at 100% on 5th october 2016
Heavy QC play testing phase done for v4 patch, about 200 hours, 16th october 2016
Lots of stuff fixed.
-All images need to be edited.
-Hacker working on a Monster Notebook insert tool.
-Also working on eboot.
-On Vita ecfw TN-V, the game gives a lot of problems (texts that should be there are not displaying).
No problems if run with the ppsspp pc emulator.
-In editing hell since time immemorial https://geofront.esterior.net/
-A version 99.99%  translated was leaked by a tester. It's missing a heavy editing pass, other adjustments
and playtesting of the edited version. It's fully playable and understandable, but it's not the best experience you could get.

Hello! I was really hoping for ao no kiseki and I see you guys are translating it ^_^ Thank you guys! I am a big fan of the kiseki series and I am so happy to see this. Question though, is this site updated from time to time? As in is the translation still going on or is it dead? I hope its not dead. I also see you guys translated another of my favourite games nayuta no kiseki as well as unchained blades exxiv. When can we expect full translation of ao no kiseki? And will unchained blades exxiv ever be completed?

Guren said...

Hi.
To sum it up:
Zero: I and the other guys gave permission to the guys at https://geofront.esterior.net/ to edit the full translation, fix it and so on. I don't know when it'll come out, or if it ever will at all.
Ao: this in progress and regularly updated, as you can see by the date.
Still a long way to go.
EXXIV: I don't know anything about this except it got stuck and it's still stuck. I was only involved with the project for a little while. You can only follow the topic on gbatemp for this game.
Nayuta: you should thank Flame and the others for this, I only caught typos and mistakes here and there while playing, nothing more.

Hi! A big kiseki fan here! I just want to ask, do you have an estimate release date for the Ao English Patch? Would it be possible to release it by next year? I really want to play Ao in English because I heard that it is the best trails game among the series because of the storyline, plot twists, characters and its badass battle ost's. I really hope you'll release it by next year so that after the official fan translation of Zero has been released, you'll be the next to release Ao. Thank you for your wonderful answer! Goodluck! May Aidios be with you! 😊

Guren said...

I can't really give an estimate. I hope that at least the translation is over in a year, but I can't really say for sure. A lot depends on real life stuff and the prospects are not looking good for me.

MIKE said...

I understand. Thank you for the answer! I hope the Ao project is going well. We fans can wait as long as we play it on English. Thank you for the effort of taking over the Ao English project. In behalf of other fans,we truly appreciate your efforts on translating the game although it is one of the biggest game in the series, you still decided to translate it on behalf of the fans! Thank you and Goodluck!! 😉

Unknown said...

As long as its translated, I don't mind waiting a year or two. Waited a long time, a lil more is nothing :) If there's any way I could help(proofreading would be my specialty), let me know. Always glad to help esp for a game I love. A lot of fans are waiting for this. As long as you don't give up on it, people will be waiting for crossbell arc which many consider to be the best in the kiseki series.

Unknown said...

So..you aren't giving up, right?

MIKE said...

Hey Guren! About the translation, are you also going to translate the title menu text of Ao No Kiseki to Trails to Azure and will you also be translating the arts list and manual in the detective notebook?

Guren said...

Not for now. And even if I were to, someone else would finish it.

Guren said...

I don't know about the title, for Zero it was translated and the title screen image and save icons were changed too. Other images like manuals and arts lists should be translated too, but I think someone else will do those.

MIKE said...

About the translation progress, is it a weekly update? I mean, are you updating the translation progress every week?

Guren said...

Usually I update the % every time I finish to translate a file, but most of the times I update when I simply remember to do it.

MIKE said...

Last question, if the patch is already finished where are you going to post or release the english patch of ao no kiseki? Thank you!!

Guren said...

I don't know where it will be released, but I suppose on the heroes of legend website and I guess a link will be put on gbatemp too. That's hoping that no tester leaks the entire thing while it's still incomplete.

KrimzonStriker said...

Hey guys, thanks for all the hard work you're putting into this and know that it's greatly appreciated.I'll definitely send a donation sometime in the fall when I'm able to, so know that you'll always have my support. Thanks again and can't wait to see what the finished product eventually looks like.

A quick question I wanted to ask though, but will this patch/translation be available for the PC version of Ao as well? I know the Zero one will be from geofront, and it'd probably make things easier than getting an emulator or something if at all possible. Thanks if you can answer! :)

Guren said...

We're focusing on the PSP version, but I asked and a PC version should be possible too based on the findings a group made when they did a Korean fantranslation, but it's not my field so... The possibility is there, although no one is working on that now.

Unknown said...

Hi Guren, is there a way I can send you a private message. I don't see a way on this blog site to contact you.

Guren said...

The quickest way is to make an account here and then send me a pm. No, we're not looking for additional help or testers now, if that's what you want to talk about :)

Unknown said...

Ok Thx Guren, waiting for my account to be activated. I signed up as Darkonus. The Question I have is about something else.

Unknown said...

Are you Guren on the forums? Can't seem to find you.

Guren said...

I saw that the address is different now and indeed there're only 10 users with a D nickname and you're not among them. Try this one: https://heroesoflegend.org/forums/index.php

Unknown said...

Waiting for my account to be activated I just replied to the Questionnaire email. Hopefully will be active tomorrow.

Unknown said...

i really appreciate for your works, especially for Zero no Kiseki. Cant wait for english translation of Ao no Kiseki.
anyway, did you accept donation? thru paypal maybe? thanks

Guren said...

Thanks. There's a button for donations on the top right, although that was put there when the blog started for translating manga, so way before I started helping with games too, but if you want...

Unknown said...

The question i have is in relation to the time it takes working on the project. I understand that you have a "translation time period" and also an "editing time period" where you go back and finalize everything. My question is which takes longer to accomplish, the translation or the editing phase.

How does this work exactly?

Also another quick question related to the leaked game of zero. I am currently playing it since there is nothing else, but exactly what type of errors and inconsistencies are in that game. I do notice the translation is deff not xseed level, its a bit more literal in a sense.

Guren said...

Hi.
They both take a lot. It also depends on how many people are working on both phases. The more, the lesser it takes, but it can become confusing (different people, different styles, different views...) so that's why the lesser is better for consistency. You also need people in the editing phase who are familiar with the series, who preferably have played the game they're editing and can spot suspicious stuff. Knowledge of Japanese would be great too to have, since many times you can understand why x has translated something in some way just by looking at the original text (for puns, speech styles, names...).

As for your other question, we were still debating what to choose for Chinese based names (someone wanted them divided, Shan Shan, Mei Ling, Zhang Hui, Xi Lun, Mei Hua...but I wanted them compounded, so Shanshan, Meiling and so on, because Falcom used Heiyue and Rixia, so I think we should follow their naming style...). There was also the option to go with their direct romanization from Japanese, so Xi Lun would be Shiron, Mei Hua would be Meifa, Lang would be Ran, Ling (the Bracer), would be Rin and so on. Maybe we did a mix of all this. There's also a problem with Kilika, who should be Kirika like you can see in her naming card after completing the game...but XS used Kilika and so, do you follow with what they did or not? What about other of their mistranslations like Mishy and Mishelam instead of Michey and Michelam (appears in various places in game). Michey is also a reference to Mickey Mouse, with some differences (cat - mouse, little sis - fiancee, michey (read misshi) - mickey, but both are popular mascots of a super popular theme park...). It doesn't end there. Hartmann's title is Chairman (it can also mean Speaker, but Falcom chose that), and XS in CSII chose...Speaker. What do you use then? Next, C.P.S. means Crossbell Police School (official), but XS used Crossbell Police Academy... What about Lechter Arundel? He's got this name in CS but has a different one in 3d (I think) and a different one in Zero-Ao. What do we use? The last one? Is it Geofront or Geo Front? Section, Division or Blok? District Crime Prevention Department? Section? Wide Crime? Is it Crime Investigation Section 1 (and 2) or Division 1 (and 2)?
There were all these things to still decide upon.
There're still typos and mistakes (the usual you're/your, we'll/will, alright/all right...), inconsistencies with items, quartz and arts descriptions if you go read those of FC/SC and probably 3rd too, maybe naming differences. I don't remember if we used only real names for fish or not. The game needed a heavy pass to check all this. It's missing some translated lines in battle (just a few that we couldn't locate were the game stores them), the splash pages and the tutorials are still in Japanese (everything was translated, it was a matter of cleaning the original stills and insert the texts with a suitable font). Maybe the books too are still in Japanese, although even those were translated and edited (yet, I think there're still a couple of translation problems in the Back Alley Doctor Glenn novel).
And the whole translation needed to be edited to flow better, because yes, it is as much literal as possible, at least on my part, since that's what Zero G wanted. So, in the end, it wasn't finished, it was missing things to be inserted, there were things still not decided, things to be probably changed and it needed a couple of passes to make the translation better. And it was leaked. The nerve! I hope at least people can enjoy it in some way. You can't even imagine how much we worked our asses off on the project, how many hours, of our free time, went into it, from the entire team.

KrimzonStriker said...

Huh,suppose that's good to know, hope somebody makes it happen in that case, and again appreciate all the work you're doing :)

Unknown said...

Hey guys. Just passing by to thank you for the translation of Zero no Kiseki. I finished the game not long ago and it was absolutely amazing. I am really grateful that you are also translating the sequel.
Hope you have a great summer :).

Guren said...

Thank you for your kind words, but I'd like to remember you that this is a one man only blog. You should go to the heroesoflegend.org/forums if you want to thank the other guys who did really a lot to make the game patch happen. Also, don't forget that Gu4n and his team are combing and fixing the script to bring it to a whole different level of quality. Maybe you could replay the game when their version is done to have a better experience. Thank you for the great summer too, but it's been horrible until now and I know it's going to be even worse from now on :(

Ton said...

Hello! I'd like to thank you, guren, for your efforts translating these beasts of games. It's really appreciated.
Quick question: for Ao are you translating it in the same (very) literal way as was requested for Zero or are you giving it a more natural flow?

Good luck with everything!

Guren said...

Hi, it's a little less literal, but it'll need the usual pass to make it flow a lot more natural. Thank you for the good luck thing, but only winning the lottery could really help me. Or finding a full time job. They both have exactly the same chances, though.

Unknown said...

Getting near the end of Zero no Kiseki so I really want this soon! Thanks for the hard work.

Unknown said...

Any way to help in Ao?

Not for now.

I can't even begin to imagine how much work there is apart from other things you guys have going on in your lives. I am truly grateful! I love these games so much, and to see fellow fans want to bring the other games to us with the highest quality possible is beyond appreciated!

Unknown said...

Thank you for working on this and am sort of proud to be the first one to comment on your blogspot ^_^ Also have to thank the person on zero no kiseki translation site for giving me this blogspot's address. Perhaps people google for ao and get directed to zero's forums where I asked about ao and then thwy come here because otherwise you'd get more comment before I made the first comment. Anyway good luck! Rooting for you!

Unknown said...

I heard from another comment on here that Ao no kisek is a long ways off. How is it along ways off. 72% is what it is at currently and that is like 2/3 finish. Is this just because your still in the first initial editing phase? Please explain this to me if you would please.

Also another question i have. Zero is currently at 40%. You also mentioned in another comment on here that "if we ever finish it at all" are you running into alot of complications with this project? Or do you see the project for zero reaching 100%. In any case keep up the good work like always, i imagine during the holidays you may have more time to work on it cause i understand college is very important and takes up most of the time.

Unknown said...

Also when one game gets finished first, are you going to collaborate on the unfinished project with other editors.

Guren said...

About Zero, there's another team working on the translation editing. So you have to ask them how things are going, because I'm not cooperating with them. My job on Zero has been over for more than a year. For Ao, it's still been translated, not edited. When it reaches 100%, there will still be other things to translate (books, notebook, novel...I don't even know if the tutorial images were done...or the Arts and Quartz tabs...) and then everything needs to be tested and fixed for context mistakes and so on (crashes...). After all that is done, I think it will be released as a v1. Then, when the guys working on editing Zero are finished with that, and if they want, they could do a full editing of Ao too and you'll have a v2. If not, Ao's will remain in a sort of rough, literal translation with at least five writing styles in it :)

Unknown said...

I JUST TRUST YOUR TRANSLANTION GUREN I DONT CARE ABOUT THAT OTHER TRANS... JUST KEEP UP YOUR GOOD WORK

Arthur Tezla said...

I think that almost everyone here is waiting so badly for the translated game that they aren't paying much attention to what Guren is saying, or at least they aren't understanding the issue. Even I want to play the game as soon as possible, but we can't rush things. As far as I can see, what Guren is saying is that the translation of the main and general plots may be near complete, but the work on the game is not just that. There's more to do on the game before it can be really played. So we must be patient cause the whole thing must take some good time to be completed.

Unknown said...

you are the one translating the current eng version of Zero? I'm playing right now and it's pretty good. I thin geofront *improved* translation is really overglorified, you are more than good enough. hoping this get released soon too after I finish Zero.

Unknown said...

It may be literal but it is understandable and well translated.
Its even better than the official translation of the gagharv trilogy, mostly tear of vermillion.

Unknown said...

If you need help with beta testing for typos, grammar fixing and localisation; using more kiseki based terms, I can help you with that once you have completed the translation. Hit me up if you need help :) Checking this from time to time so yeah. I would really love contribute to the series which holds a special place in my heart.

Will the game be released as soon as the translation is done or will it first be editted for a v1 and then released ?

MIKE said...

Hey Guren, can I ask something? Are you going to release the unedited version of the game or not? Thanks for the answer!!

Guren said...

It's very unlikely that there will be a fully edited version. We'll fix what typos and other things we catch while testing the game, that's for sure.

Guren said...

It will be the current translation with some fixed stuff, what we'll catch when testing the game. I don't see a fully edited version anytime soon. It would be a massive feat taking
too much time to do.

Tdom said...

Hi Guren, just wondering what would be the difference between what you mentioned (current trans with fixed stuff) and fully edited version? My benchmark is the leaked translated version of Zero

Guren said...

I didn't look at the leaked version of zero, but if in there there's stuff like your instead of you're (and viceversa), solider/soldier, will/we'll, then/than and so on, with texts running out of tabs and over the portraits to the right, then it was the trans before getting that stuff fixed. Think about that with the needed fixes and you have what I'd like to release for Ao. The fully edited one could have an entire rewriteg of the script to make it more fluid, english-like for sentence structure and so on. You have to ask Gu4n and his team about that for Zero because I'm not involved with what they're doing. Formatting problems are other things to fix. That involves Crossbell Times, Agnes in the Sunny Place, the detective notebook, fish and monsters descriptions... All the stuff that has too much text and so don't show up in a proper decent way. I'm also thinking about the text in the Cult's terminals.
That was a giant mess.

Tdom said...

Right, thanks for your info. Well then, I personally would be happy enough with what you'd like to release as long as it is 1) playable 2) understandable. Can't wait! Thank you.

Unknown said...

I totally didn't expect that i might see this one released before zero :O

FatalTrigger said...

I see, thanks for replying and for the hard work!

Unknown said...

zero already released a long time ago ....

Unknown said...

From what i've gathered, that version seems competent, but the translations and meanings are often wrong. It's a machine translation afterall.

Unknown said...

its human translated

Unknown said...

wtf are u talking about ? thats a good translation just not edited (text out of box sometimes) but its not machine translation.

ADI said...

No, it is not. I already played it, twice. The translations quality and the meaning most of the script is pretty good. that "wrong" thing is only:

- text formatting that sometimes out of the text box ( in script, books, or monster guide )
- some typo
- sometimes inconsistent term
- sometimes unrefined script ( too literal/a bit weird/etc, but still far better than pure machine translation result )

I am not native speaker, but i can say i really enjoy the translations. And I'm pretty sure zero leaked version is not a pure machine translation. If you already tried the half-baked ao translation that already spread around the internet ( try look at nicoblog ), then you will know which one that is from the machine translation

Tom said...

It's not a machine translation. In fact, the Geofront team are simply editing that version to read well in English.

Unknown said...

I guess the person who corrected me when i initially thought it was a human translation as well was grossly misinformed then.

Unknown said...

Sorry im new, but whre can i find the translated game that you have worked on? Thx

Adam E. said...

You should just read Guren's own description of the translation, which is posted on this page(he worked on the translation that was released):

"A version 99.99% translated was leaked by a tester. It's missing a heavy editing pass, other adjustments
and playtesting of the edited version. It's fully playable and understandable, but it's not the best experience you could get."

Unknown said...

Yup. The translation's quality is decent enough for you to appreciate and enjoy the game

Guren said...

Nothing is hosted here. Zero's translation can be found in the usal sites. The leaked version, at least. For the fully edited one, you'll have to wait for Gu4n's team to finish. They're 50% done as of now https://geofront.esterior.net/2017/12/11/trails-zero-50/

Same for Nayuta, a translation is out there and I don't know if Flame ever released the updated version with all the stuff I pointed out. A new translation is being worked on from scratch from another team, though.

For Unchained Blades, I only contributed to the stuff in the description. You can follow what's going on here https://gbatemp.net/threads/currently-translating-unchained-blades-exxiv.394877/

But in the end, gooogle is your best choice to find what you're looking for ;)

Unknown said...

I'm extremely excited for this. Any chance we can get this by christmas? haha!

corno said...

Its been known for years that they decided to do a literal translation and keep it mind these people arent even professionals they are translating this so sad little sacks full of fart like YOU can play the game in it's entirety so why not be grateful and wish them the best ?

Guren said...

Thanks Type 0, but please, moderate yourself ;)

Guren said...

Haha!

dniv said...

Well, I just finished playing the unedited version of Zero which was fun, but I'd rather wait for your patch to be finished before playing Ao since it'd be great to play something fully edited since I especially love the character dialogues when I play the kiseki games. I was hoping for an approximate estimate for when you'd be done.Do you think you'd be done by the end of the year or is the estimate more like a month or something? Thanks for replying in advance!

Unknown said...

Ah sorry, forgot to mention the game, actually i was referring to Ao no Kiseki and i thought it has been finished. I just keep wondering at the comments, how do these people know the translation progress percentage? I have no clue where to look

Hendra said...

Just want to drop in and say nice work, Guren! I'm on the "Divertisment" chapter in Cold Steel II and I'm so happy when the [REDACTED] show up. Although that moment is also a bit spoiler-ish since I'm still on Chapter 2 for Zero, but having played Zero and get to know the characters just make it more enjoyable in Cold Steel II.

Again, great job and can't wait to play Ao!

Guren said...

I really don't know. I'll finish the Crossbell Times this week, then there's Christmas and all the craziness. I expect the translation to be over before the end of January, provided anything bad doesn't happen (as I saw last week, life is really fickle). And the game has to be tested too.

Guren said...

Just look under the Ao no kiseki name in this page and you can find all the stats.

dniv said...

Dear Guren,

I totally understand. For a project this large, I can imagine it taking a long time and being a lot of work. I was sort of worried about coming across as more impertinent than I wanted to be, earlier, so I appreciate your prompt, considerate reply. I really, really love the Kiseki games. I've played through the Liberl Arc, Zero no Kiseki, and cold steel I and some of II (but stopped when I realized any more would probably spoil Ao). I really appreciate it that you are working so hard to spread such great stories to an english speaking audience. Keep up the great work! My Japanese isn't good enough to help out and I don't want to get spoiled on Ao; otherwise, I'd definitely offer to help out! I can hold conversations in Japanese, but reading Kanji fluently is another matter. I very much respect your work. Thank you very much once again!

Unknown said...

No worries Guren! Wish you guys the best. I don't mind testing it for you guys if you want lol. I talk to all the NPC so I can catch if there are things missing.

Shenmuehua said...

Just to send you a "Thank you" once again for all the work and passion you put into it.

Keep up the good work.

atheist chicken said...

Good job man! Keep it up. Do you think you'll release a version after translation is done or would you want it edited first?

Unknown said...

I would like to know something, are you give us the download link after you're done? Are you only giving it to the people who donated this to you? Or do we have to buy this from you? In which case, I don't mind buying it, as long as in reasonable price ($30). If you're only sending out the download link to the people who donate, then I'll donate right now.

Guren said...

I don't know who will test it and if the test will be thorough or not, since the Zero translation was leaked by one on the testers before and all the hours I and other people put into it talking with with every NPC every time they were available and fixing a lot of things never made it into the translation, due to the leak. So many hours wasted for nothing.

Guren said...

Thanks!

There will be some minor editing for sure after testing it but not something major like what Gu4n's team is doing with Zero now.

Guren said...

Don't even joke about it, you won't have to pay anything, buy anything or donate anything. It will be free. If someone asks you money for this, they are scamming you. Careful. I will tell you were to go to download the patch, because I think that hosting it here could potentially cause me trouble.

Unknown said...

I am sorry, I wasn't joking, I really love Zero No Kiseki, I'm dying to play this game so I'm little bit crazy about it. Thank you for answering my question.

Unknown said...

I've been waiting for this since when I'm still in Highschool. I still remembered that I always watched the trailer and the S-Craft video both Zero and Ao and I was thinking if they going to have the English version of that and I was shocked when I saw some article's about the translation that I've became soooo happy and excited. I already played Zero few months ago and I loved it. I was so happy that I got a chance to play new legend of heroes series. Right now I always checked your blog for updates about Ao. I'm really excited to play HAHA thank your for your hard work and dedication. I can't wait to play Ao. :D

Unknown said...

Heya Guren, i wish you a happy new year. May your wishes for 2018 come true :D. Thank you again for all the work you do with Ao and you did with Zero.

Unknown said...

the trails of azura will be on pc right not on PSP? if it is where can i take the trails of zero i cant find anywhere.

Jeimuzu said...

Any update this new year? Thanks

Guren said...

Thanks, happy new year to you too.

Guren said...

1) Happy new year to you too!
2) The main script translation will be over in a couple of weeks. We've already started to test some things and squashing bugs.
3) I don't know if there's a translation for PC, I think someone was working on it and it was abandoned? Anyway, it's for PSP. You can use an emu on your PC if you want. Same for Azure, PSP. I saw there should be a PC version for this too but now we're focused on the original PSP games.
3) Google is your friend! No link or names will be provided here. You could also wait for the fully edited one if you don't want to play the leaked version.

Unknown said...

Hey, Guren. I'm the lead editor on the Geofront's Trails from Zero project. I just wanted to take a second to thank you for your work on the Crossbell games. Without you, I would never have had the chance to work on these games I love. Zero is going great and I absolutely cannot wait to continue to work on editing Azure. I promise you that we will do the games justice. Thank you for your work and have a good day, man.

Unknown said...

As always, keep up the good work! Rooting for you.

Unknown said...

Hey, would just like to say the effort is great appreciated for me. Keep up the good work.

Guren said...

I can't wait for the story to maybe switch one day to the Republic and relive everything from the republican point of view like they did with the empire in the Cold Steel sub series. And I hope we'll see all the other Anguis and Enforcers.

Guren said...

Thanks! I hope yours will be happy too.

Guren said...

Nice to hear from you. My work is only a part (huge, but only a part) of the entire thing. Many people have contributed on Zero and others on Azure. Without them, Zero wouldn't have been almost finished and for Azure it would've taken another year for the translation alone, while with Flame's huge help and a big part of Kitsune's previous work, it will just be a matter of a little more time. Also, it's thanks to Flame if everyone will be able to play Azure with a working patch that doesn't make the game crash here and there, who fixed many things, hacked the unhackable and so on. Zero and Ao are a combined effort of many, many people who put in from just some hours to an insane amount of their free time (and not only that) on those projects. It's just to clear that I'm not the only one who worked/working on them like many people think, absolutely. I wish you good luck on the editing part, you've got a foliage ocean of text to go through and you'll have another one later ;)

Unknown said...

Thanks for your work and everyone involved in the project, plus all of those who worked on the previous Zero one. Wish you good luck, and many good things in the future.

Squidy said...

Really looking forward to your translation of Ao no Kiseki. Being a bit impatient here but realistically how long do you predict it would take before your patch of the translation is finished? Ever since finishing Zero no Kiseki and finding out of your project I've been excited and checking everyday for updates. Thank you and good luck with the translation, we are all extremely happy to have someone like you to do what others couldn't.

Unknown said...

Almost complete! Goodluck and thanks for the hard work guren and the rest!

Unknown said...

I come here everyday to see if it is out yet, i can hardly wait for this translations, thank you so much, please keep up the good work

kane said...

will your patch work with the pc version?

Guren said...

The patch that will be released uses xdelta do translate the psp version of the game. For PC, someone needs to compile everything in a way that can work with that specific version. And test it and fix stuff if it breaks. So many things broke down in the psp version, but now are fixed. I don't know what could happen on pc.

Creed said...

I guess the next plan of Ouroboros is already in motion which is probably happening on Calvard since Walter and BlueBlanc being absent on Sen III.. Not only I'm looking forward to who are the other Enforcers and Anguis but also looking forward to introduce the other members of Gralsritter..

Thank you for your effort and all the team who make this patch!
You really light up the hope for kiseki series fans.
I really hope you can release this as soon as this translation is completed. It will be fine even if the translation still unpolished completely as long as the translation dont sound like robotic one.
you can also kindly share your account for donation, at least thats our way to express our gratitude for you and the team.

Have a nice day!

Will your patch work with voice patch?

Guren said...

I don't know what that is.

Guren said...

You shouldn't rush and enjoy the game.

Strelok said...

Probably He wants to know if your translation will work with an Ao no Kiseki Evo voice patch (Evo voice files applied on Ao no Kiseki standard version).

FatalTrigger said...

I think he means if this is a Ao no Kiseki Evo Patch Translation like Zero no Kiseki Evo with full Character voice.
Also,
You guys are almost there!!
Man can't wait to play this, another Thank You to all of the team who made this possible.

Unknown said...

He most likely means the evolution version of the game.

kane said...

I think he's preferring to the voice patch that people ripped from the evo version of these games

kane said...

will the crossbell translation tool be useful in inserting your translation into the pc version?

Unknown said...

A patch to get the vita version voices to the psp game. It would be great if it is compatible with your patch.

https://github.com/ZhenjianYang/ZeroAoVoice-PSP/blob/master/README.md

Guren said...

Guys, once again, this patch is for the PSP version. You will need someone else to look into it if you can use part of it for the PC version or if it works with the voice patch or with whatever other hack you can come up with.

Unknown said...

I'm pretty sure it won't work with the psp version as they weren't programmed in to begin with. Only way to get it working with voice as far as i can see is applying the patch to the vita version or the pc version.

cads2 said...

im really looking forward to playing this game with/without the voice patch... i hope it's available before TOCS II PC comes out

Congrats on reaching 100% :D, i can't wait. keep up the good work. what you do is amazing and something i don't think i could ever do. i've been following this blog since i finished zero its been cool to slowly see the % go up. i don't mean this comment to sound like i'm rushing you because honestly things like this take time to do and i have nothing but respect that you can do it. thank you for all your work on this and zero i doubt i would have been able to play either if you hadn't translated them. best of luck and have a good day.

Nate said...

Please do not release on or near February 14. There's no reason to compete with Cold Steel II for PC.

Also is there a reason to "release" it instead of giving it privately to the people who said many times they will do an editing pass, provide consistent textures with Zero, and do the hacking for the existing CN PC version?

Guren said...

No competition at all.
It's also not set in stone that it will be on the 14, just yesterday I wasted hours of play because I did something stupid that corrupted my save and the lasy one I had was of 4 hours before...
And by the way, YOU SHOULD play Ao before at least what is called Divertissment in the game, but actually, even before that.

Unknown said...

You do realize those can be done after it's released right? The geofront group is going to work on it regardless, and they're perfectly ok with this release.

Let those who want to play said patch do it, and later on you'll get their edited version too. Plus, the edit will still take a long while to happen since they're busy with Zero, and will only start working on Ao after that is done.

dniv said...

Of course there is? The whole point (I'm guessing) of Guren's translation is to make the series more available to Western gamers who are interested in it, but can't fully experience it because no move has been taken to localize Zero nor Ao, so he has every reason to want to make it available to the larger fanbase and not just limit it to a few people, because that was never the point??? It's about sharing it with more people so that they can experience it in full. It's probably presumptuous of me to guess this, but this explanation makes the most sense to me from what I can see...

dniv said...

Also, Nate, lots of people are just going to buy CS II on the 14th and then play Ao first, so I don't see the problem (if you buy it anyway). It's not like this version of Ao costs money. If I didn't know better, I'd assume you were trying to cause friction at this stage out of spite.

Zero said...

Sooo, you want to wait another few years, until the whole editing process is complete? (in the same manner, you see it on the game Zero no Kiseki?)

You know, there are people fine with this release. I'm really looking forward to this game and hope it can be released around end of february.
If you want an editing pass, than don't involve other people in your decision. I think the majority is fine with this as it is. There is no reason to not release the game and for your kind of people, they can wait a few more years for the editing pass.

Jonathan Brownlee D'Urban Davies said...

Thank you for your hard work! Really looking forward to Trails from Zero's edited translation (the perfect Valentine's Day present ;)), as well as Trails to Azure.

Unknown said...

You all should be so proud of your hard work. Take your time until you guys feel it’s up to your standards. I bet it has been an incredible journey. :)
Maybe after Ao’s completion, a cold steel 3 main script translation? :P j/k

jrd said...

most people already played TOCS 2... so please release it whenever you feel its ready xD thank you for your hard work guren and the rest of the team!

Guren said...

Ha ha, Zero seems to still have a long way to go. As for Ao, I am done with it. And I mean I, the other testers want still to test stuff but I won't touch the game nor fix anything else anymore. I think about 263 hours of testing combining 2 runs is enough. TL;DR, I don't really know when the patch will be out. Valentine Day would have been super nice and perfectly feasible, but now my only advice is to buy CSII for PC and fully enjoy that to those who didn't have the chance to do so on PS3. As for you other guys, please wait patiently until it's released; there are lots of amazing games out there to kill time with. If I get to know additional info, I'll post them. If you don't see anything new, it means the situation is still the same. So, please, don't send messages because I will either delete or completely ignore them.

Last night I also saw that some fixes I asked for are working, an issue with a Crossbell Times appearing in Japanese although translated has been fixed too and Flame went the extra mile to translate an image that worked fine on its own but now is way nicer. So, stuff is still happening.

Mister Nobody said...

I can't begin to express my appreciation for the hard work you guys put into this. We'll finally get some of the story that's been missing for so long. With a series like the Trails series, you can't help, but to get invested in the character, and the countries. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

bob smith said...

Hi Guren,

I wanted to thank you for painstakingly translating Zero and Ao. I finished the leaked translation of Zero last year and it quickly became my second favorite Kiseki game. I'm eagerly awaiting the finished Ao translation- I'm not going to play Cold Steel II until I play Ao, but I've already bought CS2 on PC yesterday to support the series. So if the worry on releasing now isn't entirely related to remaining labor but instead a worry that you're biting into CS2's sales- I wouldn't worry. That Nate guy above doesn't know a thing! There's no fandom as dedicated to the financial success of their games as the Kiseki fandom, and Nate's hypothetical only feels applicable for series made up of less diehard devotees. So again, if CSII is in any way blocking you from releasing the translation, I don't think it's worth worrying about.

If there is still a lot of stuff left to do, I wish you and the team the best of luck on completing the job. Godspeed.

Unknown said...

I'm sooo excited <3 <3

Adam E. said...

I'm just happy this is happening at all, and there's absolutely no need to rush. It sounds like this will be better than the leaked Zero patch, and I'm grateful that this series has so many dedicated fans willing to put in so much extra work.

Anonymous said...

Dear Guren, really thankful for your great work! Is there really no info on editing so far? I mean, two weeks have passed and lack of updates really bothers a lot of people (and you have to delete 50 or so angry comments every day i believe), so isn't there at least something to report?

Guren said...

Yeah, Flame and Kawaii otaku lord are fully editing the entire script. It's impossible to say when they'll finish, and I don't know if they're editing and testing at the same time or if they'll have to re-test everything again later. Also, my work on the game has ended on Valentine's Day. I fixed some other minor things later and reworked some food descriptions and Combi Crafts that were running out of the tabs if checked in battle. I'm not planning to touch the game anymore, I really have had enough of it to feel sick just to look at those text sheets. I'm sure that as much as you can check and re-check and re-re-check and so on, you're bound to find something, either a typo or a line that doesn't work really well or a missing . at the end of a sentence or an NPC who suddenly doesn't speak in line with how he/she always have until some moments before and so on. The sheer amount of text in this game is simply overwhelming. It's in their hands now. Will they finish it this month? Will it be the next one? I don't know, so, please, don't ask. At present I was told that it's about 20% edited. I don't know how much it took them for that, so don't assume they're doing it at 10% weekly, 5% weekly or whatever weekly %. When I was translating there were weeks I did 200 lines and others I did 5000, it went always according to available time, mood, health condition and it will be the same for them for sure. Guys, that's all for now.

Zero said...

Thank you for your reply Guren. That is the answer I needed :D
I will probably play a mix patch of this game now. I really don't want to wait like I attempted to for Zero no Kiseki.
Maybe I will replay Ao no Kiseki with your translation right before CS3 comes out.
Anyway thanks for your hard work. I really appreciate it, because the crossbell games should be played before CS3 (Falcoms comment) and there is no other way for us non-japanese speakers to enjoy these games :D

Hello. They're doing the edits privately, so I don't have any link to give you where you can track their progress. Even I know what's going on only when I get told something from them. At present it seems they're about 32% done.

Guren said...

I can't find the excel sheet with who exaclty did what for Zero, so I'm trying to remember, and I could be remembering wrong.
Zero's translation should be about 50% done by me (Ao is about 60%).
The rest was done by Zero G, Flame and someone else.
Other parts were done by guys we'll never know.
Back then Zero G's lines were a sort of hit or miss
and Flame's Japanese wasn't good enough yet
(he has improved tons since then) so I fixed the mistakes
I could catch and edited almost everything. If it appears
it's done by only one person it's because of the edits
that unconsciously make the other parts of the translations
sound like mine most of the time.
IIRC, quests in the combat notebook and all books were edited by Flame so they should sound differently, more natural.
